New Park Information

The city has been given 5 million dollars from BLM (that does not need to be paid back!!) for the new McCullough Vista Park, which will be on the NW corner of Greenway & Mission.

They had a big white tent out a few weeks ago -- in case you were wondering what the heck it was! To make a long story short -- we have the ability to ask for what amenities we would like to have at "our" park.

The city has planned for a "tiny tots" section, a basketball court and a few other things. I asked if they were going to be putting in a few water items since is it so hot most of the year, giving our kids a chance to cool off when they are playing.

I was told that they had not planned to put water features in because Mission Hills had water features already. I felt that since we live in the desert a few water features should at least make the top 3 on the list of features to put in! I was told that if this was a feature that the community wanted, they would need to place calls to let them know.

So if you are interested in having water features please call them, have your friends, parents and grandparents call to let them know that this is something that you want. I was told by our city Councilwoman that if there is enough of a response for it, then they will add that in. But without that response from us, they will put in what they want.

I know that when we go to Mission Hills it can be quite busy, so it would be nice to have another place to go! If you are interested in the water features -- you can call the city at 267-4090 ask for Lynnette Meagher and also make a separate call to Councilwoman Gerri Schroder at 267-2403.

If you know other people in the neighborhood or others that I did not email this too, please just forward this to them or tell them about it!

Fresh Fruit for Sale - Limited Time Offer!

Hey friends and family

I spoke with a farmer that runs McMullin Orchards out of Payson, Utah , I asked him if he would be interested in bringing a load of fresh produce to us and he said that would be great. The only catch is that we need to have a total of 200 boxes in order to make the trip worth his time.

THe fruit he has at this time are Summer Lady peaches 32lb for $30, Bartlett Pears 38lb box for $32, Gala Apples 42lb box for $32, Nectarines 22lb box for $25, Pluots 12lb box for $20, and Beef Steak Tomatoes 24lb box for $20. The prices are great and the even better part is that we will have fresh produce brought straight to us !!

So lets spread the word to all of our friends and family so we can make the 200 mark that we need. Time is short, the delivery date is set for the 14th of Sep. Your more than welcome to share this with anyone you know would be interested.

Boys Clothes Size 12/GONE

My son is growing and I'm not saving plaid shorts for the little brother.  You know they won't be in style in 6 years.  The shorts are like new in various colors.  Size 12.  I bought some of them from Costco, the Hurley brand.  Call Kari or leave me a post.  I think we have shirts too.

Backyard Water Slide **SOLD**

We have a backyard waterslide...brand new, used only once. It has 2 slides, basketball hoop, 1 inflatable basketball, 1 volleyball net, 1 inflatable beach ball, 2 water guns attached to the side of the pool and it comes with a blower to keep it inflated during use. Directions, patch kit, carry bag and all accessories are included. We even have the box! It is a lot of fun but is geared for ages 3 - 10, and up to 80 lbs. My boys were on it and it was fine, they are just a little old to get much use out of it. Sells for $388.00 at Sam's club right now. We are willing to sell it for only $175/obo. 1927 Gulbransen Player Piano $750.00. I restored the wood casing and had it tuned last year. It works great but needs a new set of bellows in order for the player to function completely. The piano is currently resting on the first floor of my home.

Kathy Fairchild and Kari Dalton have collaborated on an idea. We started a blog so all our local friends can post items they need or no longer need. Our goal is to provide a safe, free place to give away, trade, buy or sell stuff. Did you ever want to get rid of something and not want to transport it somewhere? Did you ever want those addorable baby clothes to go to someone in your ward who needed them, only you didn't know who might want them? Has there ever been a need in your area for free furniture or household items? How many times have you needed something only to find out that your friend just donated it to charity or sold it at a garage sale? Has your child ever needed a book for school but you didn't want to buy a brand new one? How nice would it be to post your need on this blog and have one of your friends lend it to you?

Here are some ideas for what could be given away, lent, sold or traded:
Clothing/shoes
Games
Books
Toys
Furniture
Household items
Tools

Not Allowed: Plese don't offer anything that is not in good condition. If it is your garbage, then no one else will want it either. Anything that is broken, missing pieces or items that do not function or work properly will be taken off the blog by the administrators.

We would like to see this evolve and become what we all need, a place to swap or trade or unload things that have no value to us but could be just what another person is looking for.

Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated.
